The Contraception and STD Prevention Consultation, implemented on November, 1st, 2017, is intended to promote a constructive exchange between teenagers and general practitioners. This quantitative study involving first year high schools students in the North of Cotentin aimed to question this matter from the point of view of this peculiar the ins and outs from their own point of view. The 1112 boys and girls, who were surveyed, are mostly in favour of a consultation dedicated to teenagers and for it to be reiterated. They have poor knowledge of their rights and the risks they expose their sexual health to. They know that there are facilities and resource persons available but lack definite knowledge. Few of them have talked about contraception with their general practitioner. Those who have done so have addressed the subject on their own and are rather satisfied with it. The obstacles expressed by high school students are many and not all of them refer to other health professionals to answer their questions. A true sexual health education has been defined in the government guidelines, but is not actually in place in the field, and therefore, does not make up for this lack of exchange. As a result, it seems necessary to increase the efficiency of the scheme, to inform teenagers and their families, to train health professionals on teenagers issues, to improve the quality of the sessions given in schools, to set up a real health education scheme and to enhance the resource structures.
