      The purpose of this pilot study was to uncover experiences that contribute to life-long music making by amateur musicians. Information was gathered through casual interviews with adult music-makers at leisure. Engaging conversations were collected concerning how past and current musical experiences have contributed to their musicianship. Insightful stories from eight participants provided interesting suggestions for current public school music programs, which have resulted in a national study.
