Documents of Personal Nature in Information Retrieval Systems of Education Libraries: Presentation by Means of UDC

The article is devoted to revealing the peculiarities of reflection in the IRS of educational libraries personal documents by means of UDC, taking into account information requests of users and their satisfaction. The paper highlights the peculiarities of the UDC systematisation of documents of personal nature. The aim is multidimensional presentation of these documents in information retrieval systems of education libraries. It has been identified that a problem of the holistic study of the development of modern library reference aids elements in personal aspect and presentation of personalia remains one of the most challenging problems for library science. Based on the application of theoretical (analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, analogy, extrapolation) and empirical (observation, questioning, study of products of activity of the investigated, study and generalization of experience of experience, experiment) methods of research it was found out that the increase in demand for information products of personal content is caused by the expansion of international cooperation, i. e. contacts at personal level, the growth of personal potential of science and culture, and a steady interest to a person as to an object of scientific analysis. Special attention is paid to the assessment of heritage of outstanding figures who underbuilt the national and world science, education and culture, and became the driving force for the process of the formation and development of society. The paper covers a detailed description of the content of the notion ‘personalia’. It is emphasised that it is necessary to solve such problem as a choice of the principle place for a document about persons known in many branches of science and public practice. The necessity for repeated presentation of some materials about them is proved. It is concluded that the UDC tools make it possible to reveal the content of documents of personal nature as fully as possible and help library users in searching them.
