; The behaviour of the fissiparous sea star (Coscinasterias tenuispina) when exposed to ultraviolet and white lights was studied. After fifteen minutes of ultraviolet light exposition, the sea stars reduced their movements (activity) when compared with individuals under white light, and showed a much clear tendency to hide. Furthermore, these animals remarkably changed their body colour and, after the stimuli disappeared, they needed long time to recover it again.
