Sojourn: a psychedelic psychotherapy centre for the treatment of workplace-related PTSD in healthcare.

Healthcare workers have some of the highest rates of PTSD and PTSD-associated mental health issues among career professionals. Previous approaches to address these issues have not provided long-term solutions and have fallen apart in times of high stress, as exemplified by the SARS-Coronavirus pandemic, which has exacerbated these issues even further. With a new understanding of mental health guidelines and practices, this practicum proposes re-imagining a mental health treatment centre that embraces a holistic approach to treatment and care. It pairs unconventional and innovative modern psychiatric treatments such as Nature Assisted Healing and Psychedelic Psychotherapy with established design theories, like Biophilic and Salutogenic Design, to create a centre where the root causes of the mental health issues can be treated, rather than simply the symptoms. ; October 2023
