Mathematical skills involved in activities of informal working in a situation of social exclusion: influence of cultural variables related to gender in development or inhibition of such skills ; Competências matemáticas implicadas em atividades de trabalho informal em situação de exclusão social: influência de variáveis culturais relacionadas ao gênero no desenvolvimento ou inibição dessas competências

International audience ; The purpose of this paper is to analyze the mathematical knowledge obtained as a result of work activities developed by subjects with little schooling in social exclusion contexts. This study belongs to the research field ‘Culture and Cognition’, which includes gender issues, research developed by the Recife Group (Carraher, Nunes, Schliemann and collaborators) and the ethnomathematics research program, which is led by Ubiratan D’Ambrosio. The study was based on ethnographic observation of different contexts of work (garbage collectors, seamstresses, mechanic turners) and video recorded interviews, inspired by the self-confrontation interview, in order to understand the mathematical knowledge that is implicit to the different activities. The results show that mathematical specific knowledge has been developed as a consequence of survival needs as well as contexts that favored the development of suchprofessional activities. It was also observed the development or inhibition of cognitivecompetencies due to the social values that encouraged or prevented these activities as a result of gender issues. ; O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma analise de conhecimentos matemáticos desenvolvidos à partir de atividades de trabalho de sujeitos pouco escolarizados em situações de exclusão social. Este trabalho se insere no campo de pesquisa cultura e cognição, nas temáticas incluindo questões de gênero, e dos trabalhos de pesquisa desenvolvidos pelo grupo de Recife (Carraher, Nunes e Schliemann e colaboradores) e do programa de pesquisas da etnomatematica liderado por Ubiratan D’Ambrosio. Do ponto de vista metodológico realizou-se observações etnográficas em vários contextos de trabalho (catadores de lixo, costureira, torneiro mecânico) e entrevistas videografadas, inspiradas da entrevista de autoconfrontação, com o objetivo de compreender os conhecimentos matemáticos implícitos às várias atividades.
