However, the evolution of the discipline occurred asymmetrically between the regions of the country. Comparatively, the northern region of Brazil is one of the areas in the country where this forensic discipline has been least developed. This dissertation aimed to evaluate the forensic anthropological approach that is carried out on bodies in an advanced state of decomposition and unidentified skeletons in Rondônia and in the state of Acre. The research aimed to bring technological advancement linked to Forensic Anthropology, to northern Brazil, creating an application containing the main methods of anthropological analysis that can be integrated into the work of experts from the Legal Medical Institute of Porto Velho, in Rondônia. With this, we sought to facilitate the collection of information, data processing, storage, and sharing. It was also the objective of this work to reanalyze all individuals from the collection of unidentified skeletons from the Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology and Forensic Dentistry of the Legal Medical Institute of Porto Velho - LAFOL/IML-PVH, to test the effectiveness of the new technological tool developed. In order to assess the situation regarding the expert approach to unidentified skeletons, a questionnaire was sent to a specialist from each Institute, one from Porto Velho, in Rondônia, and another from Rio Branco, in Acre, in order to find out how the forensic work is carried out on corpses in an advanced state of decomposition and skeletonized, and what resources specialists have in the laboratory to carry out anthropological analyses.
