Imagination and the Teaching of Natural Sciencesin Elementary School ; La imaginación y la Enseñanza de las Ciencias Naturales en la Educación Básica Primaria

This paper presents a literature review within the framework of a doctoral thesis that aims to analyze the processes of the Imaginative Activity of elementary school children (6 to 10 years old) in the construction of Mental Models related to the day-night phenomenon. This review was carried out in a period between 2009 and 2018, from the outlook of documentary research. Those works that contemplated strategies and activities for the teaching of Natural Sciences were considered, focusing on those that establish some relationship with the imagination. Among the main findings, there are shortage of this type of work, a few research carried out in the context of elementary school education compared to other educational levels, and the emphasis given on biological component and reading-writing processes. These findings suggest the development of studies that require the construction and implementation of relevant strategies for teaching, learning, and developing scientific skills in the first levels of schooling. In addition, the need to include the imagination as an element that intertwines those teaching strategies and activities is highlighted. ; En este trabajo se presenta una revisión de literatura en el marco de una tesis doctoral que tiene como principal objetivo analizar los procesos de la Actividad Imaginativa de niños de la Educación Básica Primaria (6 a 10 años) en la construcción de Modelos Mentales relativos al fenómeno día-noche. La revisión se realizó en un periodo comprendido entre los años 2009 y 2018, en la perspectiva de la investigación documental. Se tuvieron en cuenta aquellos trabajos que contemplaban estrategias y actividades para la Enseñanza de las Ciencias Naturales, centrando la mirada en las que establecen algún tipo de relación con la imaginación.
