نبذة مختصرة : This article dialogues through a bibliographic research with the historical facts that built up art teaching in Brazil and seeks to understand the main aspects that influenced positions and ideals in the conception of art-education that we know today. The text deals mainly with the depreciation that society has regarding the discipline of art understanding its origins since the colonial period and its unfolding from this, reaching the modern trends and recent reforms.The survey envisioned based on the professional experience of the interlocutor.The objective is to analyze the history of art teaching in Brazil since its prelude, in order to understand the problems that art-educators of basic education face and from that point reflect on future perspectives. ; O presente artigo dialoga através de uma pesquisa bibliográfica com os fatos históricos que construíram o ensino de arte no Brasil e busca compreender os principais aspectos que influenciaram posicionamentos e ideais na concepção de arte-educação que conhecemos hoje. O texto discorre principalmente sobre desvalorização que a sociedade possui frente à disciplina entendendo suas origens desde o período colonial e seus desdobramentos a partir disto, atingindo as tendências modernas e reformas recentes. O levantamento dos questionamentos são referidos diante da também experiência profissional da interlocutora. O objetivo é analisar a historicidade do ensino da arte no Brasil desde os primórdios de forma a compreender os problemas que os arte-educadores da educação básica enfrentam e partir daí refletir sobre perspectivas futuras.
