نبذة مختصرة : Este artigo delineia as representações da vida acadêmica presentes nos quadrinhos PhD Comics, criada por Jorge Cham e publicada on-line desde 2006, focalizando os aspectos subjetivos da prática de pesquisa. Foram analisadas cerca de duas mil tiras, em diversos arcos narrativos. Observou-se, de um lado, as interações entre pesquisadores, orientadores e professores e, de outro, suas interações com as pesquisas. Três aspectos se destacam dentre as representações: (a) a estrutura hierárquica do ambiente universitário; (b) as disputas presentes no âmbito acadêmico; e (c) a tensão entre a vida pessoal e universitária dos pesquisadores. A representação crítica é, no entanto, feita de maneira leve, construindo um efeito de humor para quem está ou esteve no ambiente acadêmico. ; Academic life has been a privileged theme for ficcion, which found in the microcosmos of campus life the repertoire for stories, generally expounding the contradictions and underlining the all-to-human aspects behind the seriousness of academia. This paper outlines some aspects of the webcomics “Phd Comics”, published by Jorge Cham since 2006. Research question focus on the comical representation of academic life, which develops threefold: (a) the hierarchical structure with positions set to everyone; (b) the struggle for power and prestige has precedence over research; (c) the tension between researcher’s personal life and the constraints of academic demands. PhD Comics deals with these themes with light-hearted humour, targeted at those who are, or were, at the university.
