L’Irlande : crise économique, crise des valeurs ?

The Republic of Ireland experienced an economic and financial crisis between 2008 and 2013. Since the 1960s, deep structural changes have been implemented and led to the economic boom of the 1990s and 2000s. However the Celtic Tiger may also have changed the system of reference for moral and ethical values, to such an extent that some key contributors to the Irish economy favoured getting richer instead of following ethical principles. To what extent is it possible to say that the economic crisis stems from a moral and ethical crisis from a very catholic country? How did the Irish society, politicians and economy react when the country boomed and then crashed? Is a form of regulatory capitalism the solution so that the Republic of Ireland carries on benefiting from capitalism without being exposed to its fallout?
