“New Librarianship”: basic concepts in Brazilian research in Librarianship and Information Science ; 'Nova Biblioteconomia': conceitos base em pesquisas brasileiras em Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação

It aims to identify the most evident concepts of the “New Librarianship” in Brazilian studies in Librar-ianship and Information Science. This is quali-qualitative research, of a basic nature, of an explora-tory nature. The data were collected in Brazilian databases and in annals of national events in the area of Librarianship and Information Science research, treated with the Content Analysis technique of Lawrence Bardin. The documentary corpus, consisting of eleven documents, indicated three main categories of analysis (Library; community; and librarian) based on the repercussion of the New Librarianship by Brazilian researchers in Librarianship and Information Science. The debate that the New Librarianship has generated in Brazil contributes to the search for new ways of thinking about the area, in a more critical and humane discussion. One can see, from the Brazilian authors included in this study, what David Lankes highlights throughout his work: there is reductionism in believing that only the library building and its collection will be able to form active citizens. Therefore, looking at the local context and the members of the communities is essential to perceive demands, as is experimenting, practicing and exploring possibilities. ; Objetiva identificar conceitos da “Nova Biblioteconomia” mais evidentes em estudos brasileiros em Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação. Trata-se de pesquisa quali-qualitativa, de natureza básica, de caráter exploratório. Os dados foram levantados em bases de dados brasileiras, e em anais de eventos nacionais na área da Biblioteconomia e de pesquisas em Ciência da Informação, tratados com a técnica Análise de Conteúdo de Lawrence Bardin.
