A more detailed analysis of the patients' opinion about the system for the identification and validation of occupational diseases in Lithuania would reveal many useful facts about the practical functioning of this system, the existing gaps in it, and the functioning of separate institutions for the benefit of patients – the well-being of employees, which will allow for assumptions for further research in this field and in turn will help to form the basis for a potential improvement in the system for the detection and verification of occupational diseases in Lithuania. The controversial occupational disease cases in Lithuania and their characteristics are being investigated extremely rarely, and the processes of the Lithuanian system for the detection and verification of occupational diseases, the practical significance, the contribution of the persons and institutions participating in it and the experience of the patients participating therein have not yet been investigated. This is the first study in Lithuania that examines the patients' opinion about the system for the detection and verification of occupational diseases in Lithuania and the timeliness of the establishment of occupational diseases. Aim of the study. To determine the opinion of patients with occupational diseases on the detection and verification of occupational diseases in Lithuania. Objectives. 1. To identify the patients' opinion on the timeliness of the diagnosis of occupational diseases. 2. To identify the patients' opinion on the procedures for verification of occupational diseases. Methods. The object of the research is the patients' opinion. Persons observed are the patients whose occupational illness is being investigated by the Commission for Occupational Medicine.
