نبذة مختصرة : Introduction: The new Coronavirus pandemic was an international public health emergency due to the high potential for contagion of the virus on a global scale and, an example of what occurred globally, Brazilian authorities took measures to reduce its impact on the health system, including social distancing. In this context of exhaustion in the health system, it is worth questioning the situation of patients who receive medical care for other diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases. Objective: To analyze the impact of the new coronavirus in Brazil on hospitalizations for cardiovascular diseases during the pendemic. Material and methods: This is an epidemiological, descriptive and quantitative study. Secondary data were used regarding international cases registered in Brazil, between January 2018 and December 2021, considering diseases of the circulatory system, as indicated in the Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System (SIH/SUS), available at electronic data from the SUS IT Department (DATASUS. Variations related to the number of hospitalizations, average length of stay and mortality rate were evaluated Results: After the start of the pandemic, there was a 21.46% reduction in Hospitalizations, more pronounced in females and in the North region, and a 14.14% increase in mortality, with greater significance in the South region. At younger ages, mortality and length of stay have more pronounced positive variations.
