Manifestations of violence against women: integrative review ; Manifestaciones de la violencia contra la mujer: revisión integradora ; Manifestações da violência contra a mulher: revisão integrativa

Introduction: Violence against women is a complex phenomenon that, due to its multidimensional character, is becoming a growing worldwide problem. Objective: To identify the available literature regarding manifestations of violence against women. Methods: Integrative review, with PubMed, LILACS, and BDENF database searches for data published from 2013 to 2017, using the following descriptors: women, battered women, violence against women, domestic violence, and intimate partner violence. Results: The final sample consisted of 17 articles about violence against women and its manifestations. The following types of violence were identified: physical, psychological/emotional, and sexual, including their respective manifestations, with physical violence being more common. A link was found between the types of violence previously mentioned, since the characteristics of both physical and sexual aggression generate psychological/emotional suffering. Aggressors were mainly identified as male. Conclusion: Health professionals must be qualified to address violence cases, aiming to assist the victim comprehensively and taking into account the complexity of each situation. ; Antecedentes: La violencia contra la mujer es un fenómeno complejo que, por su carácter multidimensional, se convierte en un problema creciente a nivel mundial. Objetivo: Identificar la literatura disponible referente a las manifestaciones de la violencia contra la mujer. Métodos: Revisión integradora con búsqueda en las bases de datos PubMed, LILACS y BDENF publicados entre 2013 a 2017, con ayuda de los descriptores: mujeres, mujeres agredidas, violencia contra la mujer, violencia doméstica y violencia por socio íntimo.
