      This article arises as a result of a research carried out with physical education (PE) teachers from different educational institutions in the municipality of Sandoná – department of Nariño, Colombia. The study sought to recognize the perceptions that teachers have about motor skills and the body in the area of PE. The methodological design was guided by the qualitative approach, the ethnographic design, as strategies for collecting information, I used the documentary review of the PE area plans of each institution, the interview with eight teachers, and the observations that were made to the respective physical education classes; This being a pilot study that allowed new research to be projected within the aforementioned context. As results, it was obtained that, in the area plans, their objectives address the comprehensive training of the human being from various bodily practices, however, their contents are focused on sports practices. On the other hand, regarding motor skills, it is conceived as the human being's ability to move and move from one place to another. Finally, regarding the body, some teachers perceive positions framed in rational and mechanical thinking which limits bodily action to the achievement of objectives; However, for others it is conceived as an element that enables the expression of humanity in and from an intercultural scenario.
