نبذة مختصرة : Dissertação de Mestrado em Evolução e Biologia Humanas apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia ; In 1991 an archaeology rescue excavation allowed to recover osteological human material, in Largo de São Domingos, near the church with the same name, in downtown Lisbon. The Church of São Domingos was built in the mid 13th century, with the Convent, meanwhile destroyed. The exhumed osteological series, from the 16th century, was the target of a paleobiological study by Dr. Luís Lopes, revisited in the present work, in order to of enrich the knowledge about these individuals.The paleodemographic analysis was accomplished by the estimation of age at death, sexual diagnosis and the evaluation of ancestry; the morphological analysis consisted of estimating stature, calculating the indexes defined for the femur and tibia and recording the presence/absence of nonmetric cranial, postcranial and dental traits; a paleopathological examination was conducted; the characterization of the funerary practices, was possible through the information obtained in the archaeological article. In this sample, 23 individuals are present, 18 adults (9 female, 8 male and 1 of undetermined sex), of which 2 are young adults. There’s 3 children and 2 adolescents, as well. The presence of an individual of African ancestry was confirmed, which may be related to the foundation, in late 15th century, of the Confraternity of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, the first brotherhood of Black People, in Lisbon, in the convent church of São Domingos. A possible case of acquired syphilis was detected in an adult male, who exhibited lesions on the skull, scapulae, clavicles, sternum and ribs.In the future, considering these results, DNA profiling and x-ray radiography should be carried out. ; Em 1991, uma intervenção arqueológica de emergência permitiu recuperar material osteológico humano no Largo de São Domingos, onde se situa a igreja com o mesmo nome, na baixa de Lisboa.
