نبذة مختصرة : The aim of the thesis is to investigate the eating habits of Kaunas city universities students living in dormitories. Methods used in the thesis were anonymous questionnaire for the survey. LSMU, KTU, VDU, LSU, ASU and VU KHF students who live in dormitories took part in the survey. In total 603 students were surveyed. The statistical analysis was performed using the statistical package “SPSS 22.0“. Hypotheses about the two signs of independence were tested using chi-square (χ2) test. Indicators differences were considered statistically significant at p <0.05. More than half of the LSMU, KTU, ASU, LSU and VDU students claimed that their eating habits worsened since they started studying in the university. Only 59.2 % of VU KHF students claim that their eating habits remained the same. The usage of food supplements varies among the students. Mostly VU KHF students claimed to eat regularly. Majority of students eat at dormitories. 50% of the students cook regularly. The usage of vegetables is too low among students, only one fourth of the students eat adequate amount of it. The usage of food products differs among 6 universities of Kaunas. 68.5% of students eat fast food products less than one time per week. More than 60% of students consider having enough knowledge on nutrition. Majority of students’ answers about nutrition were correct. 60% of respondents read food labels. The information which is most often read by students is the composition and durability of the product. Conclusions. Majority of students living in dormitories do not adhere to regime of the eating and the principles of balanced and healthy diet. More than half of the respondents see their nutrition as good or sufficient. The eating habits of VU KHF students are better than those of other universities. LSMU, LSU and VU KHF students have some more knowledge about nutrition compared to other universities.
