نبذة مختصرة : The research is aimed at investigating the assessment cultures of teachers through a case study in a primary school. The research questions are aimed at understanding the meanings attributed by teachers to assess- ment and specifically the meanings given to assessment when focused on students’ differences. Moreover, the research is also aimed at exploring the assessment practices implemented in the specific context of the school. It is a research that moves in a twofold direction: on the one hand, the intention to contribute to the de- velopment of studies about the assessment cultures, i.e. the meanings on which to build procedures and practices, in order to support professional development as well as initial teacher education; on the other, the opportunity to explore the connection between the dimension of the attention to diversity and that of justice in the context of assessment addressing what is defined as 'fair assessment'.
