      In view of the current situation of the Brazilian university in relation to active teaching-learning strategies, this proposal emerged to develop a monitoring project that involved the application of fundamental concepts of the biochemistry discipline within the professional performance universe of medical students from the UPE Garanhuns. Team Based Learning (TBL), discussion of clinical cases, laboratory practical classes, and discursive forum were the methods used to make the teaching-learning process more exciting and dynamic, innovating the way that the monitoring of the Biochemistry discipline was worked at the UPE Garanhuns. The students, protagonists of this project and the main beneficiaries of the monitoring, reported a degree of satisfaction of more than 80% for all the methods used. The project also made it possible for the monitors to take autonomous attitudes towards knowledge, assuming, with greater responsibility, the commitment to invest in their academic training.
