Le portrait gênant

Ce texte analyse la matière signifiante d’un geste intentionnel aux conséquences volatiles : une provocation. Il s’inscrit dans l’histoire événementielle de la (post-)révolution tunisienne. Il interroge la manière dont l’image du corps dénudé d’une inconnue, soudainement médiatisée jusqu’à devenir une icône de la contestation, s’impose publiquement comme une différence gênante qui cherche sa place dans une communauté d’appartenance déstabilisée. Cette provocation n’a pas seulement relancé un questionnement sur l’évolution des mœurs tunisiennes, elle a aussi conduit au réexamen des conditions d’expression publique de la différence dans un contexte de moralisme rampant. Les chaînes d’interprétations conséquentes à cette médiatisation, auxquelles prend part cet article, permettent alors de jeter un regard sur la manière dont ont été revivifiées un certain nombre de thématiques : désarroi des jeunes générations, peur du féminin, pouvoirs du patriarcat, engagement du corps et de l’intime dans l’espace public. ; This text analyzes the signifying matter of an intentional gesture with volatile consequences: a provocation. It questions the way in which the image of the naked body of a stranger, suddenly mediatized to the point of becoming an icon of protest, publicly imposes itself as an embarrassing difference that seeks its place in a destabilized community of belonging. This provocation has not only revived a questioning of the evolution of Tunisian morals, it has also led to a re-examination of the conditions for the public expression of difference in a context of rampant moralism.
