From the outline of Environmental Education (EA) in the critical perspective and its contribution to education. The present article is structured as a bibliographical survey on EA in the school space, which allowed us to draw an overview of the possibilities and needs of environmental actions in formal education. Through this text we expand the knowledge on the theme for the foundation and framework of the following stages of the dissertation research entitled “The Place of Environmental Education in the school space: possibilities for high school”. In this article we present research that is based on the perspective of Critical Environmental Education from the perspective of some of the main researchers on the subject, mainly Carlos Loureiro, Lucie Sauvé, Marcos Reigota, Marilia Tozoni-Reis, Marilia Torales Campos Marcos Sorrentino and Vanessa Andreoli. Based on these convictions, we will reflect on the human-nature relationship, the idea of belonging, sustainability and sustainable development. O presente artigo se estrutura como um levantamento bibliográfico sobre EA no espaço escolar que nos permitiu traçar um panorama das possibilidades e necessidades de ações ambientais no ensino formal. Através deste texto ampliamos os conhecimentos sobre a temática para embasamento e arcabouço das etapas seguintes da pesquisa dissertativa intitulada “O Lugar da Educação Ambiental no espaço escolar: possibilidades para o ensino médio”.
