This is a qualitative approach research, whose technical procedure was documentary research. Thus, the plans of specialized educational care, opinions and portfolios of students with autism were analyzed. The theoretical framework dialogues with authors such as Maleval (2017), Lacan (1985), Laznik (2013), Libiliar (2005), among others that enabled this reflection. For data collection, a mapping was carried out at Santa Maria municipal and state schools, in order to verify which of them had students with autism enrolled. After this process, three schools were selected where the documents of four students were analyzed, three of them in the early years of elementary school and one attending the final years of elementary school. In the corpus of the analysis were considered, aspects that precede the advent of writing, such as language, body image in articulation with drawing, alphabetic writing, and finally, school practices. At the end it was concluded that school practices developed by the teachers for the advent of writing, started from the students' interest in certain areas and / or objects. However, it was not possible, through the analyzed documents, to follow the writing development of these students, since most of them are in the last two levels of writing acquisition, that is, the syllabic-alphabetic and alphabetic levels.
