      Mind maps are teaching resources that are widely used in education due to their ability to synthesize content and connect ideas. In the teaching of Science and Biology, it tends to encourage and help the memorization of content as well as meaningful learning due to the association and connection of terms and ideas. In this context, this work aims to discuss the use of mind maps in the teaching of science and biology based on an appreciation of scientific work on the subject. In order to achieve the proposed objective, a literature review was carried out, using Google Scholar and Scielo as databases, in which articles were researched between the periods 2019 to 2023. The key search words were: mental maps, biology teaching, science teaching, primary and secondary education. The results show that mind maps are an important didactic strategy for teaching science and biology. Most of the works had the intention of having students build mind maps on the topics being covered in class, topics such as soils, viruses, cytology and invertebrates were covered. Finally, the research highlighted the use of mind maps in science and biology teaching, bringing contributions and reflections on the use of this teaching and learning strategy. ; Mapas mentais são recursos didáticos bastante utilizados na Educação devido a sua capacidade de síntese de conteúdo e conexão de ideias. No ensino de Ciências e Biologia tende a incentivar e auxiliar a memorização de conteúdos bem como a aprendizagem significativa devido a associação e conexão termos e de ideias. Nesse contexto este trabalho tem como objetivo discutir sobre a utilização de mapas mentais no ensino de ciências e Biologia a partir de uma apreciação de trabalhos científicos a respeito. Como forma de alcançar o objetivo proposto, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura, utilizando como bases de dados o Google acadêmico e Scielo, no qual foram pesquisados artigos entre os períodos de 2019 a 2023.
