      [EN] Today's childhood unfolds in a world saturated with images. These have indisputable value and strength, as well as a great wealth of communication. For this reason, attention must be paid to their potential as transmitters of knowledge and as role models. Due to the influence that these exert on the children's group, it is necessary to attend to the processes of reading, interpreting and decoding them (cinema, television and advertising) that students follow from educational spaces and formal teaching environments. For this reason, after the theoretical and bibliographic presentation of these concepts, the objective of the research is to analyze and assess the place that audiovisual language has in the official curricula of Early Childhood Education, both at a general and national level (Spanish territory), as well as specifically and regional (Valencian Community). It is based on a socio-educational position since the study aims to generate greater knowledge among the teachers of the Early Childhood Education stage regarding the treatment that visual culture has its legal frameworks; contributing as a consequence to an improvement of the teaching-learning processes. All this, through a qualitative methodology and a method of bibliographic and legislative review. To complement, after the study carried out, the criteria for the selection and use of the audiovisual materials that are followed in the stage are shared; as well as other significant concepts such as the functions of the media, Learning and Knowledge Technologies (TAC) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). All in all, it concludes with the place that audiovisual language presents in the official curricula of the section of children's schooling; which is treated in an inclusive and specialized manner.
