نبذة مختصرة : Background: Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) is common after stroke, under-diagnosed and has a negative impact on neurological recovery. Objectives: To evaluate the frequencies of OSAS and its post-stroke screening, the effectiveness of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and its compliance. Realization of a questionnaire for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians (PMR) of the former Basse-Normandie. Methods: Ventilatory polygraphy and compliance results were collected for detected patients. The screening frequency was collected in a neurological rehabilitation center. The severity of OSAS, its frequency, the effectiveness of CPAP and its compliance were assessed. A questionnaire was conducted and sent to 29 PMR physicians to evaluate their screening practice. Results: From November 2016 to May 2019, 25 patients hospitalized in PMR in Aunay/Odon after a stroke were screened. Twenty-three had OSAS (mean AHI 36.5 ± 23.1), 22 were matchable, 19 accepted CPAP (42.6 ± 21.0) and 15 (79%) were observed after 30 days of use on average with a significant decrease in AHI (8.8 ± 9.2; p<0.001). Compliance at 3, 6 and ≥ 9 months was ≥ 70% with a significant decrease in residual AHI. Of the 11 responses to the questionnaire (37.9%), 2 physicians were systematically looking for OSAS, 7 were sometimes looking for it and 2 were frequently looking for it. Conclusion: OSAS is common in post-stroke but not well detected. The equipment is possible and efficient. More systematic strategies for the management of OSAS in post-stroke settings should be implemented.
