This article aims to approach the short story “Notas ao pé da página” (1995), by Moacyr Scliar. The referred text will be analyzed in order to establish a connection between literature and the theme of translation and pose reflections on language from different conceptions, which will be related to distinct views of translation. Moreover, an analysis of Scliar’s fiction by Rosemary Arrojo, whose work is linked to the field of Translation Studies, will be presented. The theoretical foundation includes the thoughts of Mounin (1975), Frota (2000) and Arrojo (2004). ; Este artigo tem como objetivo abordar o conto “Notas ao pé da página” (1995), de Moacyr Scliar. O referido texto será analisado no intuito de estabelecer uma conexão entre literatura e o tema da tradução e levantar reflexões sobre linguagem a partir de diferentes concepções, as quais serão relacionadas a visões distintas sobre tradução. Além disso, uma análise da ficção de Scliar por Rosemary Arrojo, cujo trabalho está vinculado aos Estudos da Tradução, será apresentada. A fundamentação teórica inclui os pensamentos de Mounin (1975), Frota (2000) e Arrojo (2004).
