نبذة مختصرة : International audience ; The textile industries are a source of knowledge, know-how and innovation. Textile products are an integral part of every individual's life. In traditional Cameroonian art, natural fibres have been used and continue to be used today for the manufacture of fabrics for various garments. The complexity of fabrics and the plurality of materials have allowed the textile industry to diversify by adding new forms and contents. The textile industries, especially traditional crafts, are sources of inspiration, imagination and creativity for craftsmen and designers in search of continuous renewal in the face of the social, economic, cultural and environmental factors increasingly observed in today's societies. Moreover, these industries are now facing new challenges in the face of the need to perpetuate, safeguard, transmit and enhance this heritage to present and future generations. Certain phenomena, notably heritage, globalisation and cultural diversity, favour the recognition of textiles and the techniques associated with them as a tool for the enhancement of identities and human development. However, questions are being asked about the sustainability of the clothing heritage in the face of ever more present threats: disappearance of natural resources, diversification of markets and proliferation of products, etc. How can the circulation between tradition and modernity be grasped in order to preserve and transmit knowledge, know-how and skills related to textiles? The diversification of training courses for crafts within both traditional and modern societies may prove to be a response to the challenges of safeguarding and transmitting traditional knowledge and skills.
