In the organic cropping systems, the positive immobilization effect of catch crops on Nmin. concentration manifested itself during late autumn-early spring period before the intensive leaching complex. In the sustainable II cropping system, having applied N30 to promote straw mineralization, despite the fact that before autumn ploughing the concentration was the highest, in the next year’s spring it was markedly lower than in the systems in which catch crops were grown during the post-harvest period. This shows that application of N30 for straw mineralization increased Nmin. concentration in the 0-40 cm layer before autumn ploughing, which markedly declined until spring due to its rapid migration into deeper soil layers.
