نبذة مختصرة : Drawing by Elbert Weinberg depicting the head of a woman. She appears to be looking into a cylindrical container in which she sees the reflection of her own face. The drawing is inscribed “PANDORA. "In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman created by the gods. She was given a box or jar and warned not to open it. She did so, releasing all the evils of humanity. The composition is related to a bronze mirror by Weinberg which is sometimes given the ascribed title “Adolescent Boy.” The date of the drawing and the mirror are unknown. Although many of the mirrors were produced during the 1980s, some were being made and exhibited as early as the 1960s. ; Sculptor Elbert Weinberg (1928-1991) was a Hartford native and Weaver High School graduate who maintained a studio in the Colt Building for many years.
