نبذة مختصرة : An individual’s internal resources can determine feelings of happiness and life satisfaction. The aim of the study was to explore the relations between emotional intelligence, coping strategies on life satisfaction. Participants were 100 adults (M = 39,83), who completed a questionnaire for measuring emotional intelligence, coping strategies, and life satisfaction. The obtained results indicated that life satisfaction was positively related to emotional intelligence (both the ability to understand emotions and manage emotions in positive ways) and coping strategies (acceptance, seeking emotional support), and negatively related to the coping strategy – emotional discharge. Life satisfaction was explained to a large extend by the ability to manage emotions in positive ways, then by emotional discharge and seeking emotional support. Results from mediation analyses demonstrated that acceptance mediated the relationships between the ability to understand emotions and life satisfaction. The results obtained indicate that life satisfaction may depend largely on the individual’s ability to regulate affect so as to experience more positive than negative feelings. The obtained results may be useful in future research.
