A B S T R A C TSoil is one of humanity's most essential natural resources and provides numerous ecosystem services, therefore, the assessment of vulnerability to soil is essential to identify the extent of fragility and preparing suitable plans for the conservation of the area. Thus, this research aimed to evaluate the natural vulnerability to soil loss and the emergency fragility of the Canaã dos Carajás, in the Pará state (East Amazonia), because it is a strategic location for the development of the state and the country, it is also a region with great mining activity. For this, a spatial database was created in a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) environment using the Qgis software version 3.16.11. The maps were prepared based on relative and empirical information on morphogenesis/pedogenesis proposed by Ross (1994) and Crepani et al. (2001), both based on the concept of ecodynamics by Tricart (1977), analyzing each of the themes individually: geology, geomorphology, pedology, vegetation, precipitation and land use. As a result of Natural Vulnerability, the Medium Stable/Vulnerable units stand out, on average, 75% of the study area, and Moderately Vulnerable to Vulnerable units, prevailing erosive processes with an area of approximately 14%. In the Emergency Fragility scenarios, the Moderately Stable and Medium Stable/Fragile classes stand out, representing, on average, 87% of the study area. The Moderately Fragile and Fragile classes, when added together, encompass approximately 11% of the entire area. In the units in which high Vulnerabilities (0.01%) and Fragilities (0.80%) predominated, special attention is suggested in relation to the natural environment and the agents that influence it, aiming at good social practices associated with environmental policies in the decision-making process. of economic decisions, enabling the valorization and protection of the environment.
