      Cilj istraživanja: Mikronukleus test u bukalnim epitelnim stanicama je jednostavna metoda za dijagnosticiranje genetskih oštećenja toksičnih tvari. Cilj ove in vivo studije bio je procijeniti citotoksični i genotoksični učinak pušenja koristeći mikronukleus test. Materijali i metode: Istraživanje je provedeno na 160 ispitanika, 40 nepušača te 120 pušača. Pušači su bili podijeljeni u tri podjednake skupine ovisno o korištenom proizvodu (cigarete, električne cigarete, IQOS). Praćen je učinak pušenja na pojavnost jezgrinih anomalija uključujući mikronukleus, kondenzirani kromatin, karioreksu, kariolizu, piknozu, „slomljeno jaje“ te jezgrin pup. Rezultati: Rezultati dobiveni Kruskal-Wallis testom potvrđuju značajnu razliku u učestalosti stanica s mikronukleusom (P = 0,011), jezgrinim pupom (P = 0,012), karioreksom (P ≤ 0,001), kariolizom (P ≤ 0,001), kondenziranim kromatinom (P ≤ 0,001) i binuklearnih stanica (P ≤ 0,001) u pušača različitih duhanskih proizvoda i nepušača. Zaključak: Korištenje duhanskih proizvoda značajno dovodi do citotoksičnih i genotoksičnih oštećenja u oljuštenim bukalnim stanicama. ; Objectives: The micronucleus test in buccal epithelial cells is a simple method for diagnosing genetic damage to toxic substances. The aim of this in vivo study was to evaluate the cytotoxic and genotoxic effect of smoking using the micronucleus test. Materials and methods: The study was conducted on 160 subjects, 40 non – smokers and 120 smokers. Smokers were divided into three equal groups depending on the products used (cigarettes, electronic cigarette and IQOS). The effect of smoking on the occurrence of nuclear anomalies including micronucleus, condensed chromatin, karyorrhexis, karyolysis, pyknosis, „fractured egg“, and nuclear bud was monitored.
