نبذة مختصرة : Shape and dimensions of the vacuum chamber of an electron storage ring are determined by the high power synchroton radiation generated by circulating beams. High energy (≥ 10 eV) photons of the electromagnetic radiation emitted by electron beam, impining on the internal wall of the vacuum chamber, create photoelectrons (on account of photoelectric effect) and theese in turn extract gas atoms and molecules from the walls (typically H2, CO, etc.).
