      Τhe purpose of this doctoral thesis is to study the collective identities which are incorporated in the social identities of children. More specifically, this thesis focuses on the Pontian, the local and the Thracian identities respectively. These identities are inter-ethnic differentiations of the Greek ethnic identity. The methods of participatory design, participatory observation and the educational software of edutainment were used in the research. According to the method of participatory design, the user of digital applications takes active part in the design and the creation of the product. The application of edutainment is addressed to children and combines education with entertainment. The interview, the written questionnaire and the focus groups were used as methodological tools. According to the research conclusions, children incorporate in their social identities elements of the collective identities of their integration groups. The immediate family, the wider family, the cultural group, the community, the school and the internet are factors that strengthen forms of collective identity and at the same time socialization carriers. As socialization carriers, they transmit and play an important role in the procedures of absorbing the collective identities. The children of local origin include in their local identity their local customs, music and dance. The collective identity of children of Pontian origin includes mostly pontian dances, songs and music. The children of Thracian origin identify their collective identity mostly through the thracian customs, the dance and the music.
