نبذة مختصرة : Domestic work has existed since ancient times, being carried out mostly by women in their own homes. However, over the years it has been recognized as a profession, where remuneration is received for carrying out these tasks, if they are carried out in homes other than one’s own. Despite having the advantage of being recognized as a profession, we find ourselves with numerous deficiencies and lack of protection in this area, which mainly affect women, who are the ones that make up the majority of this group. In this research we will briefly address the history of domestic work in Spain, to see how it was in the beginning, where society was marked by patriarchal thinking, and how it has evolved to the present. We will address the main characteristics of this employment relationship, as well as the shortcomings that they have to face. Finally, we will also mention the issue of occupational risk prevention in the domestic service sector. ; El trabajo doméstico existe desde la antigüedad, siendo realizado en su mayoría por mujeres en sus propios hogares. Sin embargo, con el paso de los años se ha reconocido como una profesión, en donde se recibe una remuneración por la realización de estas labores, si se llevan a cabo en hogares ajenos al propio. A pesar de contar con la ventaja de ser reconocido como una profesión, nos encontramos con numerosas carencias y falta de protección en este ámbito, que afectan principalmente a mujeres, que son las que conforman en su mayoría este colectivo. En esta investigación abordaremos brevemente la historia del trabajo doméstico en España, para ver cómo era en los inicios, donde la sociedad estaba marcada por el pensamiento patriarcal, y como ha evolucionado hasta la actualidad. Abordaremos las principales características que tiene esta relación laboral, así como las carencias a las que se tienen que enfrentar. Finalmente, mencionaremos también el tema de la prevención de riesgos laborales en el sector del servicio doméstico.
