Mario Pfeifer's book is a critical reader that is an integral part of his film project of the same name—an innovative expansion of the genre. In this book, complex explorations of the intercultural, film-historic, political and urban issues discussed in Pfeifer's film not only surface on the level of texts but become manifest in the materiality of the book itself. The artist's book was produced in Mumbai, where Pfeifer participated in Columbia University's Studio X program, and created using six different local printing techniques. In March 2012, Pfeifer and designer Markus Weisbeck of Surface set out the formal aspects of the publication in collaboration with local manufacturer Grandmother India. Texts from Suprio Bhattacharjee, Nikolaus Hirsch, Shanay Jhaveri, Kurnal Rawat and Shuddhabrata Sengupta, among others.--From publisher's website. Library has 74 of 100. The bookmark (23 x 15 cm.) included in this publication is an original Buddhist flag. The hand-painted dust jacket covers were produced by Bollywood painter Suresh Sandal. Text in Hindi and English.
