نبذة مختصرة : Maternal mortality is a public health problem that disproportionately affects low- and middle-income countries, in addition to being seen as a powerful marker of social conditions, and reflects the quality of life and access to health goods and services for women in a given region. It is used as an important indicator for planning and implementing public policies aimed at women's health. The objective was to analyze the epidemiological profile and the temporal trend of maternal mortality in Pernambuco (2010-2020). Analytical study, using data collected from the Mortality Information System (SIM) and the Live Births Information System (Sinasc), collected between 2022 and 2023, organized by the set of variables that make up maternal death, with subsequent tabulation and statistical analysis. For trend analysis, the regression model by inflection points (joinpoint regression model) was used. A total of 898 maternal deaths were identified, with the trend of a stationary maternal mortality ratio curve (MMR) in the State, with the exception of the XII Region. Deaths from direct causes predominated, with emphasis on edema with proteinuria and hypertensive diseases; and most of the deaths occurred mainly in young adults between 20 and 34 years old, with a higher risk of death among adults (>35 years old), brown/black, without a partner, with less than seven years of education (increasing trend), reflecting conditions of social vulnerability.
