Tallei2)1)Program Studi Farmasi FMIPA UNSRAT Manado, 951152)Jurusan Biologi Farmasi FMIPA UNSRAT Manado, 95115  ABSTRACT Amalgam is a dental fillings which containing mercury (Hg2+). The presence of mercury in amalgam can induce the growth of mercury resistant bacteria and affect bacterial resistance to antibiotics, so that there may be a negative impact on urinary tract infection treatment (UTI) which can lead to the medication failure. The objective of the study was to identify mercury-resistant bacteria and antibiotic-resistant bacteria in amalgam dental users. This research is descriptive explorative. The urine sample taken from 1 participant of amalgam fillings user and 1 participant who did not use amalgam fillings. The isolate bacteria were identified using morphology, phisiology and biochemistry tests and also test of antibiotic resistance againts Cefixime. Isolates of mercury resistant bacteria and antibiotic-resistant bacteria were identified bio molecularly with the 16S rRNA gene. The test results showed 2 bacterial isolates resistant to all test antibiotics. The isolates of antibiotic-resistant bacteria were tested in biomolecular identification and identified as Klebsiella pneumoniae. Keywords : Amalgam, urine, antibiotic resistant bacteria, Cefixime, 16S rRNA gene, Klebsiella pneumoniae. ABSTRAK Amalgam merupakan tumpatan gigi yang mengandung merkuri (Hg2+)). Adanya merkuri dalam amalgam dapat menginduksi tumbuhnya bakteri resisten merkuri dan mempengaruhi resistensi bakteri terhadap antibiotik, sehingga dapat timbul dampak negatif bagi pengobatan infeksi saluran kemih (ISK) yang berupa terjadinya kegagalan pengobatan.
