      Parchment is one of the oldest writing instruments produced for writing on various animal skins. It has been produced and used with both traditional and more modern chemicals since BC. In the traditional production model, after the skins are treated with lime, they are cleared of the hair layer and removed by scraping method. When the literature is examined, it has been seen that the production of parchment is made in similar processes with different recipes. The first places of use of parchment in history were the writing of religious texts in general. It is known that the method of dyeing the parchment in various colors was used to indicate the importance and value of these thesis. In this thesis, the coloring properties of the parchment were investigated by using natural dye obtained from the red cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata f. rubra) plant and various mordant chemicals during the production. Lamb skins were used in the thesis study. These skins are divided into four groups. The first group was dyed without using mordant as the control group, potassium aluminum sulfate was used as the mordant in the second group, copper sulfate was used in the third group, and iron sulfate was used in the fourth group. Physical tests were applied to all treated parchment. These tests are respectively; Thickness determination (TS EN ISO 2589), tensile strength and elongation determination (TS EN ISO 3376), single edge tear test (TS EN ISO 3377-1), double edge tear test (TS EN ISO 3377-2), distension and strength of surface determination (TS EN ISO 3379), color fastness to water spotting (TS EN ISO 15700), color measurement test (in-house method), aging test (TS EN ISO 17228), shrinkage temperature test (TS EN ISO 3380) and determination of pH in the leather (TS EN ISO 4045). The results of the tests were evaluated statistically in the Design-Expert program according to the ANOVA analysis system.
