Background: Medial tibiofémoral osteoarthritis is a public health issue which affects many 17% of the whole French population.Osteoarthritis can be managed in several different ways, but we will only focus on a method called the foot orthotics management. Indeed, it allows to modify the alignment of the lower limbs in the frontal place. These orthotics can served as a treatment in addition to physiotherapy rehabilitation and can be effective for patients suffering from gonartrhosis.Objective: the objective of this review is to evaluate the efficacy on a biomechanical level, on pain and comfort that lateral wedge insoles could have in patients with medial femorotibial arthrosis. Methods: During the literature search, a search equation based on the PICO model was applied in different databases such as Pubmed, PEDro and Google scholar. After the selection of the studies by the inclusion and exclusion criteria, we kept five clinical trials that were randomly selected. The methodological quality of these trials was assessed by the PEDro scale. Results: All the studies showed a significant reduction in the external knee adduction moment, during the gait analysis. However, many opinions and conlusions are mixed for pain and comfort. Conclusion: Despite a small number of studies and a small sample population we’ve observed that in the short term, lateral wedge insoles allow a realignment of the lower limbs and a decrease in the medial knee loading in patients with medial knee osteoarthritis. ; Introduction : l’arthrose tibio-fémorale médiale présente un enjeu de santé publique.
