KASTAMONULU BİR MUTASAVVIF, ÂLİM VE SİYASETÇİ: AHMED MÂHİR EFENDİ

Ahmed Māhir Efendi is a statesman and scientist who grew up in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and became distinguished as a scholar, Sufi, politician and poet. He is seen as the representative of the Khālidiyya branch of the Naqshbandi order after Sheikh Ahmed Siyahī and his son Seyyid Ahmed Hicabi Efendi in Kastamonu. He witnessed the last periods of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the newly established republic. He served as a deputy in the Grand National Assembly in the first and second periods of the Grand National Assembly. In addition to his scientific and political personality, Ahmed Māhir Efendi wrote the most comprehensive commentary in Turkish of Ibn Atāullah İskenderī's Ḥikam, which is one of the important Sufi classics. In this respect, the scientific and mystical views of Ahmed Māhir Efendi, a late Ottoman scholar and statesman, are important. This study aims to reveal Ahmed Māhir Efendi's life, works and mystical views.
Ahmed Mâhir Efendi, Osmanlı’nın son dönemlerinde yetişmiş, âlim, mutasavvıf, siyasetçi ve şair kimliği ile temayüz etmiş bir devlet ve ilim adamıdır. Ahmed Mâhir Efendi, Nakşibendiliğin Hâlidiyye kolunun, Kastamonu’daki Şeyh Ahmed Siyahî ve oğlu Seyyid Ahmed Hicabî Efendi’den sonraki temsilcisi olarak görülmektedir. Osmanlı’nın çöküşe geçtiği son dönemlerine ve yeni kurulan Cumhuriyet’in ilk yıllarına şahitlik etmiş, Meclis-i Mebusan da, Büyük Millet Meclisi birinci ve ikinci devresinde milletvekilliği yapmıştır. Ahmed Mâhir Efendi, ilmî ve siyasî kişiliğinin yanı sıra önemli tasavvuf klasikleri arasında yer alan İbn Atâullah İskenderî’nin Hikem isimli eserinin Türkçedeki en kapsamlı şerhini yazmıştır. Bu açıdan son dönem Osmanlı âlimi ve devlet adamı olarak Ahmed Mâhir Efendi’nin ilmî ve tasavvufî görüşleri önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmamızda Ahmed Mâhir Efendi’nin hayatı, eserleri ve tasavvufi görüşlerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktayız.
