La noción de performatividad de género para el análisis del discurso fílmico

The concept of gender performativity developed and created by Judith Butler has been adopted by a lot of postmodern feminist scholars, making it a common “filler” that is present in texts about identity and agency. Taking as a starting point the film Rashômon, by Akira Kurosawa (1950), this paper debates the gender performativity as a conceptual tool with huge analytical power in four dimensions: (1) the discursivity, (2) the identity, (3) the social context, (4) the materiality. We stress specially the link between performativity and performance, to elucidate its validity and to shape the boundaries in the performativity’s application in gender studies. La noción de performatividad de género, desarrollada principalmente por Judith Butler y adoptada por varias teóricas feministas posmodernas, se ha convertido en últimas fechas enuna especie de “muletilla”. A partir del análisis de la película Rashômon, de Akira Kurosawa (1950), este documento tiene el objetivo de debatir la performatividad como una herramientaconceptual de enorme poder analítico en cuatro planos: 1) la discursividad, 2) la identidad; 3) la contextualidad, 4) la materialidad. Ponemos el acento en el vínculo entre performatividad y performance, para dilucidar su vigencia y delinear los límites de su aplicación en los estudios feministas de género.
