نبذة مختصرة : Pain is the most common symptom of the disease, which causes the search for help. The duty of the veterinary doctor is to identify and treat the cause of pain, and to treat the pain, regardless of whether the cause can be eliminated. Pain exhausts the patient, slows down the healing of the tissues, adversely affects the psyche and physical activity, degrades the quality of life. The research is done at Lithuanian university of health studies Veterinary academy dr. L. Kriauceliunas small animal clinic. The aim of the work is to analyze dogs the most commonly used analgesics in dogs at selected veterinary clinics. Thesis consist of 60 pages, it contains 2 tables and 16 figures. In this work, the data of Lithuanian Register of Veterinary Medicinal Products on analgesics in dogs was analyzed, a questionnaire survey of Lithuanian veterinarians about the pain relief drugs used in their practice was done. At the private “X” veterinary clinics dogs with the symptoms of pain were evaluated and monitored and drugs used for the pain relief were registered. Results and Conclusions. During the research it was found that at the date of December 2017 y. 55 analgesics were registered in the Lithuanian Register of Veterinary Medicinal Products for use in dogs. The main part (60%) of registered analgesics contains non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), most of which is meloxicam (51.5%). A questionnaire survey found that usually Lithuanian veterinary doctors use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for the treatment of pain in dogs, such as carprofen, metamizole. In the Kaunas “X” Veterinary Clinic, the most common causes of pain in dogs were: postoperative pain, digestive organs, oral cavity and orthopedic pains. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are commonly used in the \"X\" Veterinary Clinic for such pain relief – carprofen, metamizole, robenacoxib.
