A brachial plexus injury is one of the most severepathologies of the upper limb, and also has severesequels. In the actual state of the art, nerve transfersare being used as first line of therapeutic approach inthe reconstruction of proximal functions of the upperlimb. In this study 20 nerve transfers were made tothe ulnar nerve of the cat, using the spinal accessorynerve (10 cases) or the thoracodorsal nerve (10cases). The opposite side was used as control. Duringnext year, reinnervation was assessed by electromyo-graphy, nerve and muscle histology and histochemi-cal evaluation of the spinal cord. We found that moto-neurons of both donor nerves are able to make partialreinervation of the ulnar nerve territory.
