The CeO2/TiO2 mixed oxides catalysts were synthesized by impregnation method, solid state process and hydrothermal method, which were subsequently utilized as catalysts for the catalytic combustion of dichloromethane (DCM). We observed that the preparation methods had a great influence on the surface structure of the CeO2/TiO2 mixed oxides catalysts, which led to the different exposure of TiO2 and CeO2 on catalyst surface, and the different interaction between TiO2 and CeO2. The exposure of TiO2 was related to the quantity of Lewis acidic sites, which were the active sites of DCM conversion, while the exposure of CeO2 was response for the anti-chlorine capability and redox property for the deep oxidation. For the solid mixing method, CeTi-S catalysts combined the advantages of TiO2 and CeO2 components, and yielded the best catalytic performance among these three catalysts.
