Expectations for the use of Intelligent Transport Systems applications in the management of freight transport enterprises

The article presents the results of research aimed at determination of expectations regarding Intelligent Transport Systems applications for the management of freight transport enterprises. The survey was conducted in 164 freight transport companies located in southern Poland. In the first phase of the research, the most important features of ITS applications for freight transport companies perceived by the respondents were identified. Afterward, the features of ITS applications were referred to four selected areas of support for the management processes of the enterprises: vehicle management support, infrastructure management support, policy support, and general management support. All four areas of support for the management processes were analysed on the basis of elaboration of expectations of representatives of all 164 freight transport companies towards 36 various ITS applications.
