نبذة مختصرة : The topicality of the present research is determined, firstly, by the significance of facial expressions as a non-verbal means of communication for any community, including English-speaking ones; secondly, by a large number of FACIAL EXPRESSION concept verbalisation means and their active use in speech. The paper aims to identify lexicographic representation of the cognitive structure of the concept under study. The analysis of dictionary definitions of verbalized facial expression kinemes allows us to draw the following conclusions. The FACIAL EXPRESSION macroconcept structure has these basic cognitive features: 1) the face or its part which expresses a person’s mental state; 2) the way of expressing a person’s mental state; 3) a person’s mental state which is expressed on the face. According to cognitive classifiers “part of a person’s face” and “way of expression” there have been identified the generic subconcepts: GRIMACE, REDDENING OF THE FACE, PALING OF THE FACE, FROWNING, RAISING OF THE EYEBROWS, LOOK, WIDE OPENING OF THE EYES, SCREWING OF THE EYES, AVERTING OF THE EYES, ROLLING OF THE EYES, WINKING, SMILE, GRINNING, CURLING OF THE LIPS, GASPING, POUTING, PRESSING OF THE LIPS, SMACKING OF THE LIPS, PUTTING OUT THE TONGUE, LICKING OF THE LIPS, PUFFING OF THE CHEEKS, WRINKLING OF THE NOSE, WRINKLING OF THE BROW.
