Inhibition of carbon steels from hydrogen-sulfide corrosion with triazoles

The protective effect of six organic triazole series compounds with respect to carbon steels in water chloride solutions with high concentration of H 2 S (2 g/l) has been studied. Under these conditions, the most efficient inhibitor of hydrogen-sulfide corrosion is 3-N,N-dibenzoamino-1,2,4-triazole (DBAT) and the least efficient is 1,2,3-benzotriazole. DBAT can suppress or considerably slow down the hydrogen-sulfide corrosion of steels due to the inhibition of both electrode reactions on the surface.
