Integrated and Collaborative Care: Quality Improvement in Action

The popularity of Integrated and Collaborative Care (ICC) treatment models in behavioral health has paralleled the growth of the Quality Improvement (QI) movement in the American health care system. QI entails continuous and organized efforts to improve the performance of a system. These concepts are closely related, and in many ways ICC can be seen as a specific application of QI principles. In addition, these concepts are synergistic in that ICC programs can be implemented with QI tools, and such programs also create numerous opportunities for further QI efforts.
